Here are the mushrooms we found on a hike in the woods behind us. It was a very humid day in late June shortly after it had rained. Most of the photos were taken with a flash where they were found under the canopy and/or under ferns, etc. I used my field guide to try and identify the ones I could and at least guess at the others. My little research project.

The second and third index pages are images from a hike on the same "mushroom trail" on July 1st. The pages after that have images from hikes on a local portion of the Appalachian Trail and in Franconia State Park in the White Mountains as well as more from our "Mushroom Trail".

We have so many mushroom photos from the summer of 2002 and since, that I have catagorized them into 4 different types below. For a view of just our favorites, goto the Best of the Mushrooms page.
